“八岔戏”是陕南地区一种民间小调戏,团为从它的形式看来,既不是大戏,也不是小戏,所以人们也把演唱“八岔戏”的艺人叫作“二江湖”。“八岔戏”有“阳八岔”和“阴八岔”之分,主要分别在调口音律不同.无论阴阳,它们的特征,都只是仅用一个丝弦伴奏。板路分“板头”“板尾”“半板”“阴板”“一字板”“二六慢”等调门。“八岔戏”原是由小调戏搬上舞台的,开始多演小型戏曲,所以用人不多,大约有十人就可以开锣。人数最多的也只二十余人,因之在扮演角色上也就不很严格.演唱一出戏,如果缺一个角色,无论是生旦净丑,认闲着谁就扮演。
