This quiet downtown alley is one of the only remaining fruits that can still see Beijing’s remnants of old looks. Not far north, crossing recently just disappeared an entire ancient neighborhood. Big characters behind the guardrail of real estate developers name, a messy bulldozer spare no effort to eradicate those quarters of the last traces of life. A small theater on the fourth floor of the Chinese Theater Association is a force studio. This typical office building is being exactly poke in the middle of the alley. It can not help but feel some desolate humor in history. It is itself a ridiculous tragedy to the once-hearted “Liang Chen Plan.” According to the idea of Beijing’s planning by Liang Sicheng in 1950, office buildings and new discordant buildings should never appear in these neighborhoods. Old Beijing’s city walls, brick streets and lanes should all be preserved intact; Far from disappearing city walls, once could be a beautiful ring air park. Let’s imagine,
