Chen Yinque ’s “A Dream of Red Mansions,” “Untitled” and “E” were all directly related to the history of the Red Chamber. While the first poem admires Wu Mi’s new learning of redology, he also highly praises the artistic charm of “Dream of the Red Chamber”. The latter two poems were criticized in great criticism of the Hongxue School in 1954, revealing the author’s concerns about Yu Pingbo, his sympathy for Hu Shih, and his criticism of himself and his active participants in the political campaign. These poems reflect Chen Yinke’s concern for the study of the “Red Mansions” and the fate of Chinese culture. They have witnessed the birth and ups and downs of the new school and recorded the pursuit and setbacks of modern China. They are all worthy of understanding of academic history.
