薛伯寿者,江苏泰兴人也,质淳朴,性聪慧。幼睹百姓贫病之厄,遂矢志杏林,精研医学,一心为民,历历五十余载。尝负笈沪上,勤求博采,得诸多中医名家指点学习,于中西医皆有所得。后拜入蒲辅周老门下,得蒲氏亲授岐黄之道、寒温之理,而学愈明、技愈彰。伤寒为仲景之学,温病、温疫实与伤寒一源,然中医多分而辨之。薛氏继承蒲老寒温之学,以传承发扬蒲氏医学为己任,擅外感,兼杂病,处疑难。诊病处方必先岁气,融会寒温,和其不和,以致和合。外感病传变快、兼夹多,变证亦多,而薛氏常能准确辨证,处方精当,效如桴鼓,
