Japanese companies to invest in China boom lasted about ten years. However, over the past decade, Japanese companies have been forced to accept workers who enjoy high salaries, unable to retain outstanding local staff, and Japanese managers are only concerned about their position after returning home. Japan gave the technology and know-how freely to China, but what has Japan got? Since a large number of Japanese companies invested in China from the 1980s through the early 1990s, these joint ventures are now hovering at the crossroads. Japanese companies are entering China because they have taken a fancy to China's cheap labor force and huge market. However, at present, some Japanese enterprises have been abandoned by Chinese partners because they have lost their use value. If Japanese companies do not fundamentally change their strategies toward China, such problems will continue to arise in the future.
