武冈林场位于湖南省武冈县西南部,东经110°22′至111°03′,北纬26°25′至27°00′之间;海拔一般为550至850米,最低296米,最高1409.5米。该场地处雪峰山系,山峦重迭,土壤肥沃,气候适宜,发展杉木有着广阔的前景。自1954年建场三十多年来,主要力量投放在人工杉木林的培育与经营管理上,目前大部分已进入成熟阶段,从1981年起每年定额采伐1万多m~3。据1986年森林经理调查结
