In the UK, the average size of primary and secondary schools is declining due to a decrease in the number of registered students. There are over 2,600 elementary schools in England, of which about 600 are less than 50 and about 2,000 are all 50 to 100 students. ① Most of the small-scale primary and secondary schools are in local jurisdictions, most of which are in rural areas, especially in rural areas where natural conditions are worse.
