2005年8月27日晚,由陕西省委宣传部、省文化厅、省广电局、省文联、延安、榆林市委、市政府联合主办的“陕北民歌大赛”在安塞县体育场正式启动。举办此次民歌大赛,是为了发现和培养一批陕北民歌创作和表演人才,推出一批能够反映时代气息的陕北民歌精品和陕北民歌文化品牌。“陕北民歌大赛”从村、乡起步,以低门槛吸引普通百姓参与,比赛从今年8月底到明年初结束,在西安、延安、榆林设分赛区,由村、乡一级逐步推荐一定数量的优秀者到市、省里参赛,分赛区的优秀选手将参加在西安举行的总决赛。陕北民歌大赛启动仪式结束后,安塞县民歌大赛决赛随之上演,从安塞各乡镇152名报名选手中脱颖而出的22名民歌选手,进入安塞县“杏采杯”陕北民歌大赛决赛。“西部歌王”贺玉堂等艺术家还为体育场内的2万多安塞群众送上了精彩的演唱,将启动仪式推向高潮。
