松毛虫是我省头号森林害虫,它广泛为害云南松、思茅松、高山松、油杉甚至柏树。受害林木一片枯焦,就象火烧过一样。严重影响生长量及材质。此虫在我省历年均有不同程度的发生为害。严重年分发生面积达数百万亩。我省松毛虫种类较多,其中为害严重分布最广的是云南松毛虫、思茅松毛虫,其次是文山松毛虫、德昌松毛虫。此外还有高山松毛虫、双波松毛虫,但为害不严重。
