晚明文学社群的数量达到历史高峰,作用于文学的效果更为明显,影响也更大。文学社群的联盟性与地域性,使得明末文学呈现同中有异,异中有同的独特风貌,形成明末派别林立、思潮纷呈的百家争鸣景象,掀起明末第三次文学复古思潮,对清初文坛产生重要影响。明末清初文学社群对文学的推动作用超越于以往任何一个时代,这其中与社群宗经复古社团宗旨有很大关系。而“尊经复古”思想由复社领袖张溥提出,但是,张溥提倡“尊经复古”思想并非一时的头脑发热而生成,而是有一个长期酝酿的过程。宗经复古思想对当时文学家影响很大,在明末内外忧患纷呈而至的情况下,“尊经复古”思想成为广大文人士子的心声,即使与复社在选文上持有不同意见的豫章社领袖艾南英也在“尊经复古”思想上与复社出奇的一致,各地复社分社对“尊经复古”思想大力宣传,各地文社娿纷纷统合到复社里来了,成为晚明文坛一大奇观。
