外销瓷作为中国陶瓷发展历史中重要的一环,承载了中国陶瓷走向世界先锋军的职责。在英文中表示中国的“china”一词的由来虽然有几种不同的说法,但无疑与中国的外销瓷密切相关,考古发掘证明,中国陶瓷外销至迟始于唐代,当时是作为特产随丝绸输往国外的。在今朝鲜、日本、菲律宾、印度尼西亚、马来西亚、泰国、斯里兰卡、印度、巴基撕坦、伊朗、伊拉克、巴林、约旦、叙利亚、苏丹、埃及、坦桑尼亚等国都出土了中国唐、五代时期的陶瓷际本,品种有唐三彩、越窑青瓷、邢窑白瓷、长沙窑瓷器、广东梅州市梅县区窑瓷器等。
