古老的中国是一条龙,龙的故乡在铜梁。铜梁位于四川盆地东南部,辖于重庆,幅员面积1334平方公里,人口81万。铜梁是著名的龙乡。目前有12个专业的龙文化演出公司,常年在外进行商业演出的舞龙队有20多支,舞龙队员近千名,每年的演出收入在3000万元左右。2008年元旦期间,一台总投资达700余万元、排练近半年、参与演员达310人的《龙乡放歌》大型歌舞剧在重庆铜梁正式公演——此举旨在于寄情龙之舞,提升铜梁形象,促进当地旅游业发展,掀起了铜梁做大做强“龙产业”的又一次高潮。
