Many biological systems exhibit a prominent and recurrent Temporal Pattern and occur regularly over a 24-hour period, known as the Circadian Rhythm (CR). Since the time of Hippocrates, the rhythms of human health and disease have been mentioned, and in 1845 Davy reported that daily changes in body temperature have nothing to do with ambient temperature activity. In 1960, a large number of physiological functions and circadian rhythms were described.
