This article reports the results of the physical examination of 13,637 people returning from Beijing ports from 1990 to 1995. 460 cases of HIV-infected persons, tuberculosis, malaria, schistosomiasis in Egypt, HBsAg-positive persons and dysentery were detected from 13,637 persons, accounting for 3.37% of the monitored persons; 402 cases of non-infectious diseases such as heart disease and hypertension were accounted for 2.95% of the monitored population. The access to these data provides the basis for future disease surveillance and makes a comparative analysis of the number of patients from different regions and at different times. The results of the analysis suggest that the health and quarantine authorities should make health care consultation before leaving the country and take the necessary precautionary measures, which are very necessary to reduce the prevalence of returnees and protect the health of our countrymen traveling abroad.
