在中国近代史研究中,太平天国研究始终是最为活跃的研究课题之一,其著述之宏富,探讨问题之广泛深入,为其它研究课题所不及。近日,沈嘉荣教授新著《太平天国史略》就是一部富有新意的论著。该书28万言、五章、28节,由南京出版社出版。作者以翔实的资料再现了太平天国从兴起、鼎盛到内讧转入衰微、败亡的悲壮的历史场面。与以往的太平天国史书相比,该书主要特点有三:
