毫无疑问宽带网络,尤其是基于光纤的宽带IP网络及其关键技术是本世纪末在通信领域和计算机网络领域中的热点之一。宽带IP网络将光通信技术、宽带技术和IP技术有机地结合,创造出一种更能适应未来高级应用的融数据、语音、图象、传真等多媒体业务于一体的网络环境。因此以宽带IP技术为核心,使用纯IP协议构建新一代的开放式的电信网络显然是未来二十一世纪电信基础设施的主流趋势之一。 美国、加拿大等国家从九十年代后期就着手进行高速宽带网络技术的研究,并相继建成了相应大型宽带网络,如美国政府的NGI计划中的vBNS主干网络和高校的Internet2计划的Abilene主干网络,此外加拿大也建成了自己的基于DWDM的全光CA* net3。
There is no doubt that broadband networks, especially fiber-based broadband IP networks and their key technologies are one of the hot spots in the field of communications and computer networks by the end of this century. Broadband IP network combines optical communication technology, broadband technology and IP technology organically to create a network environment that integrates multimedia services such as data, voice, image, and fax, which can better meet the future high-level applications. Therefore, using broadband IP technology as the core, using a pure IP protocol to build a new generation of open telecom networks is clearly one of the major trends in telecom infrastructure in the 21st century in the future. The United States, Canada and other countries started to study the high-speed broadband network technology from the late 1990s and successively built corresponding large-scale broadband networks such as the vBNS backbone network in the U.S. government’s NGI plan and the Abilene backbone network in the university’s Internet2 program, In addition, Canada also built its own all-optical CA * net3 based on DWDM.
