供研究的植物分别生长在海拔2000尺、3250尺及5000尺的苗圃中;土壤用硫酸铵、硫酸钾及过磷酸盐作如下不同的处理:一、每英亩施120磅的硫酸铵及90磅的过磷酸盐(以N_2P_2表之)。二、每英亩施120磅的硫酸铵及200磅的硫酸钾(以N_2K_2表之)。三、每英亩施200磅的硫酸钾及90磅的过磷酸盐(以K_2P_2表之)。供研究的毛地黄叶于4月采收,生长的时间6—7个月。其强心作用的测定方法如下:一、每一样品中甙的含量是根据Ghosh与Gupta的方法,加酸水解,测定游离的还原糖及总还原糖的数量而估计的;其结果的表示是依据葡萄糖来计算此二数值的差异。
