1994年5月19日英吉利海峡隧道开始投入营业性运营,几列欧洲隧道公司配属的梭行动车组装载着卡车在英法两国间行驶。在6月份之前由于梭行列车数量不足,无法实行循环运转,从7月份起梭行列车每小时能增加至3列。目前隧道公司正在向英法两国政府间委员会申请办理客运梭列车的运行许可证。客运服务开始时带有邀请性质,到10月份才能逐步扩大服务范围。预计到6月13日开始办理集装箱和拖挂车国际运输服务。英国铁路和法国国营铁路打算于7月份开始办理有限的用“欧洲之星”动车组运送旅客的服务。预计到秋季才能全面开展商务性的客运服务。欧洲隧道公司为了满足未来客货运输的需要,已邀请一些制造商另外再提供一些梭式动车组和20台机车,以扩大运输能力。
