新丰街因新丰镇而得名。新丰镇位于中山门(和政门)外,老常州喜欢称小北门。清末,武进城区按城厢设立16区,新丰镇尚未形成。民国十八年(1929),武进实行新的组织法,全县设10区、363乡、83镇。其中,武进的城区部分为第一区,也称延陵区,驻双桂坊,辖19个镇,新丰镇隶属延陵区。乡镇实行的是公所制,新丰镇公所设在椿庭桥堍。同时存在的还有龙城、青山、名山、广化、卧龙等镇。1948年11月,新丰镇与丁塘、横塘、北塘等乡组建丰西乡,新丰镇撤消,新公所位于椿庭桥堍的
Xinfeng Street named after the town of Xinfeng. Xinfeng Town, located in Zhongshan Gate (and politics), the old Changzhou likes to call the small north gate. In 1948 November, Xinfeng Town and Dingtang, Wang Tong, Beitang and other townships set up Feng Xixiang, Xinfeng withdrawal, the new office is located in Chun Ting Bridge 堍
