Using unsteady flow theory to calculate hydrogeological parameters and evaluate groundwater resources has been widely applied abroad. One of the reasons why our country was introduced in 1960 and not yet popularized in more than a decade has been that the testing methods have not been properly addressed. The original equipment and methods can not meet the requirements of its accuracy. At present, the active electrode water level meter used in hydrogeological survey is very difficult to measure the important data in the initial stage of pumping test. In order to popularize and promote the application of unsteady flow theory and to solve the testing methods and equipment of pumping test, Month acceptance of the task of developing self-recording water level meter, we adopted the capacitive method to solve the above problems, the development work in Xi’an transistor plant and other fraternal units with the great help has achieved initial results and named DR-1-type water level Instrument (see photo 1). The water level meter below the original
