多层翼缘板焊接梁为一种变截面梁。其上、下翼缘由两层或两层以上钢板组成,其中除翼缘通长与腹板焊接外,以上各层翼缘板又通长或非通长地与翼缘相叠焊于翼缘上。多层翼缘板梁有铆接和焊接两种。铆接梁在我国已广泛采用,经过长期实践和考验,在设计和施工方面已取得比较成熟的经验。多层翼缘板焊接梁,于六十年代在国外已开始进行试验研究,并用于桥梁、工业厂房中的平台大梁以及吊车梁系统中。一些国家的钢结构设计规范对此已有所反映。
