Gumstix’s Waysmall family of product designers provides a line of Linux-based computer systems that you can easily hold in their hands. These small systems are housed in plastic enclosures of 83mm x 36mm x 15mm. These small systems together with an MMC (MultiMedia Card) slot, two serial ports, a USB client port, a power connector, and some general purpose I / O pins provide XScale processing power. Waysmall computers, which came out in 2004 and cost less than $ 200, are well received by the open source community for mobile and handheld applications. But for embedded system designers, the real treasure is hidden inside: a complete single-board machine measuring just one parcel of gum.
