随着改革开放的不断深入，交通运输日益繁忙，城市车辆不断增加，而道路发展相对缓慢，如此道路车辆发展的严重不平衡局面，导致了道路交通事故的频繁发生。广州市交通管理部门一直采取一些行之有效的措施，使近几年来交通事故得以控制，事故发生率有所下降。但就全国统计的数字来看，仍在全国名列前茅。为此，本文运用交通工程理论对１９９６年广州市（含四个县级市）道路交通事故情况以及特点进行分析，并对重、特大交通死亡事故进行原因分析，同时列举了一些典型的重大交通死亡事故案例，以警示人们。通过交通事故分析，提醒市民：道路交通管理，不仅仅是交通管理部门的事故，它与人们的社会活动、生活出行息息相关。加强交通意识，是极有必要的。
With the continuous deepening of reform and opening up, increasingly heavy transportation, increasing urban vehicles, and relatively slow road development, the serious unbalanced development of road vehicles has led to the frequent occurrence of road traffic accidents. Traffic Management Department of Guangzhou Municipality has taken some effective measures to control traffic accidents in recent years and the accident rate has declined. However, as far as the national statistics are concerned, they are still among the best in the country. Therefore, this paper analyzes the situation and characteristics of road traffic accidents in Guangzhou (including four county-level cities) in 1996 with the theory of traffic engineering, and analyzes the causes of fatal and extra-large traffic fatal accidents. At the same time, some typical heavy traffic Case of fatal accident to alert people. Through traffic accident analysis, to remind the public: road traffic management, traffic management is not just an accident, it is related to people’s social activities, living and travel are closely related. It is absolutely necessary to enhance traffic awareness.
