1.《文献》杂志自1979年创刊,至1985年共计出版二十二辑,1986年以后每年出版四辑。2.本索引根据以类相从的原则进行编排,共分为:文学;史学;敦煌、帛书;方志、舆图;谱牒、碑刻;传记、行实;善本叙录;抄本、写本、未刊本;目录;序跋、题记;版本、校勘;辨误、补正;辑侠;文献;书札;书史;刻书、藏书、访书;怀念、回顾及其他;书目文献出版社图书介绍等十九大类。编写顺序依次为篇名、作者、年代、期数(1979—1985年则为总辑数)。3.本索引编制匆促,分类难称允当,请读者使用时注意。
