抗日战争时期,党领导的抗日根据地远处敌后,缺乏现代化的通讯设备,又被日军,国民党军队的重兵包围,敌后作战和根据地建设详情当时很少为外界所知,《美亚》杂志(1937年在纽约创刊)是西方国家中站在同情中国共产党人的立场上较系统地报道我抗日根据地情况的少数刊物之一,该刊用较大篇幅先后发表了数十篇西方作者亲身访问抗日根据地的报道和文章,有时也积载一些我方的文献。在那风雨如晦的年代里,起到了激励人心的作用,
