March 1998 Philips Semiconductors announced in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, that the company will introduce a new and cost-effective solution for providing cordless connectivity to computer systems so that the system can be linked up with other consumer electronics and industrial devices Cordless communication. The concept of Virtual Cable is based on the widely adopted Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard with data rates up to 28.8 Kbps. The effective connection range of the virtual wires is between 50 and 300 feet and will not be affected by the blocking of walls, partitions and floors. It is expected that the retail price of each pair of paired virtual wires will be more reasonable than the competition of other competing products and will immediately solve the problem of wire connection for a variety of old and new applications.
