Australia research and development of new technologies to prevent banana bunchy top disease, banana owners can save 27 million US dollars each year. The Australian Plant Biosecurity Collaborative Research Center (CRCNPB) project team used computer modeling to simulate the impact of banana bunchy top virus (BBTV) at various industrial control intensities. The results show that growers in Queensland, Australia and New South Wales can completely eradicate the virus by adopting quarantine measures and strict sanitation controls. The project leader and Dr David Cook, a senior economist at the Department of Agriculture in the Western Australian State (DAFWA), said that before the cost began to outperform earnings, we calculated that the industry could cost $ 15.27 million in its elimination strategy.
