雕塑艺术,作为世界最古老的艺术形式之一,无论以什么形式表现,都反映了人对世界的认识和理解,因此可以被看作是人生的一种物化形。在美术的所有品类中,雕塑的数量占压倒优势,不仅在中国,在世界所有国家中都如此。城市雕塑作为当前主流的雕塑形式之一,主要作用于城市的装饰和美化,它在继承和发扬了传统雕塑反映社会生活、表达艺术家个人情感的基础上,与城市建设发展和提高人文生活质量相结合,塑造城市新地标与人文价值取向。
