It has been reported in the literature that glucocorticoids can inhibit basal gastric acid secretion and post-stimulation gastric acid secretion in humans and animals and significantly increase the gastric potential difference (PD). In recent years, there are reports of high glucose injections can effectively protect the gastric mucosa from aspirin damage. One of the latter two explanations of the effect is that pure high inhibition of gastric acid secretion.
