电站汽轮机高中压转子世界各国大多数都采用CrMoV系钢制造。为了提高机组的热效率,电站机组已向着大容量高参数的方向发展,如仍采用CrMoV钢生产高中压转子则不利于经济合理的设计,特别是中压转子的材料强度就不富裕了。同时要求电站大锻件的尺寸和重量也相应愈来愈大,以及更大截面的淬透性和更高的使用性能。为此各国冶金工作者对12%Cr钢进行了大量试验研究工作,研制出12%Cr改良型耐热钢,用作高参数汽轮机高中压转子,并得到良好的机械性能和高温性能。此钢系目前正受到各国汽轮机制造者的重视,有的已用于大型电站汽轮机高中压转子。
