The role of science and technology has not only been to create new industries and promote economic growth. In the 21st century, mankind is faced with such major issues as the deterioration of the global environment, the food crisis, energy problems, the spread of AIDS and the population expansion as well as overcoming the major issues of cultural and religious antagonism and war and nuclear proliferation. Humans are facing the fundamental problem of having to decorate and control their living environment with their own hands. To solve these problems we must rely on the power of science. Professor Chikushi Nakagori, an honorary professor at the University of Tokyo, said: “Nowadays it is an era that can not be imagined without science.” Obviously, the problems we face in the 21st century are based solely on personal concern, and traditional and purely academic learning can not fixed. These issues have gone beyond the narrower history of the pursuit of national interest, requiring new knowledge and
