As a guide to determine whether a location is suitable for a nuclear power station, the United States enacted the 1910 CFR 100 Reactor Address Code, which is administered by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission. With the progress in the construction of nuclear power plants in the western California centered around California and the development of seismology and tectonic geology, it is now time to formulate detailed guidelines on earthquakes and geological surveys. As an appendix to 10CFR100, a site-specific code of Appendix A-Seismology and Geology has been established in 1973.
