河南农业大学于1981年设立了农村能源本科专业和相应的可再生能源实验室,1994年获批硕士学位授予权,1998年获批博士学位授予权,2003年获批博士后科研流动站,1996年被农业部确定为农业部农村可再生能源重点开放实验室,2007年被河南省科技厅确定为河南省可再生能源重点实验室,2011年被农业部确定为农业部农村可再生能源新材料与装备重点实验室。依托本实验室建有:人力资源和社会保障部农村能源特有工种职业技能鉴定站、河南省生物质能源院士专家工作站、河南省沼气工程技术研究中心。实验室主任由河南农业大学副校
