Not long ago, the State Council Development Research Center held the 2003 annual meeting of the China Development Forum at Diaoyutai in Beijing on the theme of building an overall well-to-do society in China. The Forum has attracted senior officials and scholars both at home and abroad as well as a large number of heavyweight entrepreneurs. Attendees held heated discussions on some hot topics concerning the current Chinese economy, in particular how to build an overall well-to-do society.
