It has been shown that fogging is a result of the interaction of the chemically active components of the packaging material with the photographic layer. Reducing agents for packaging materials do not directly reduce the sensitivity of photographic paper, meaning that it is not a de-sensitizer but increases fog density. This is the main reason that causes the change of photosensitive material index. The relationship between fog growth and active ingredients is complex. There is no quantitative relationship between the increase in fog density and the content of the active ingredient, and the effect of different active agents on the control layer is not the same.
