地表尾砂池中贮放的含二硫化铁的铀尾砂能引起酸的渗透、不溶性重金属与放射性核素的分解、粉尘扩散和氡发散等四种类型的污染。上面可生长植被的混合料覆盖层或土壤覆盖层的应用,可消除尾砂池中硫酸的生长及粉尘的扩散,是保护地貌的最有效措施。加拿大的研究表明,覆盖层的应用,也同样可以降低或消除氡的发散。
Uranium tailings containing iron disulfide stored in the surface tailings pond can cause acid infiltration, decomposition of insoluble heavy metals and radionuclides, dust dispersal and radon emission and other four types of pollution. The application of the vegetation cover or the soil cover on which the vegetation can grow can eliminate the growth of sulfuric acid in the tailings pool and the spread of the dust, which is the most effective measure to protect the landform. Canadian research shows that overburden applications can also reduce or eliminate radon divergence.
