当地正在实施的城乡一体化集中供热工程完工后,将解决110个行政村7.5万户居民环保取暖问题。阳城县是中国无烟煤的主产地,优煤储量6.8亿吨,煤层气储量48亿方。现在煤炭产能2235万吨,实际年产量1045万吨。当地煤炭低碳低硫、发热量髙、污染排放少,历史上曾是英国皇家壁炉专用炭。因其特性符合官方“治霾”要求,过去主要用作优质化工用煤,近年来作为精品民用煤炭被广泛推广。
