10年前,在中国只有少数人听说过Internet这个词。即使在美国,也只有在大学和研究机构的学生、教师和科学家们才知道它的存在。然而,自从去年美国克林顿政府的“信息高速公路”计划出台以后,Internet这个词便越采越频繁地出现在美国的新闻媒体和政府文件之中。在中国,Internet这个词也开始走出象牙之塔,经常出现在报章杂志上。今年4月,我国公用通信网已经实现了与Internet网络的互联,国内用户可以共享Internet网上的所有信息资源。那么,Internet究竟是怎么回事呢?我们策划了这期专题,希望帮助人们认识它、了解它。
Ten years ago, only a few people in China heard the word Internet. Even in the United States, it is only known to students, teachers and scientists at universities and research institutions. However, since the Bill Clinton administration launched the “Information Superhighway” program last year, the word Internet has appeared more and more frequently in the U.S. news media and government documents. In China, the word Internet has also begun to walk out of the ivory tower, often appear in newspapers and magazines. In April this year, China’s public communications network has been achieved with the Internet network interconnection, domestic users can share all Internet information resources. So, what’s going on with the Internet? We planned this issue, hoping to help people know it and understand it.
