“我们从事民族工作,就要对少数民族群众、少数民族地区有感情”这是王德坤常说的一句话。作为广州市民族宗教部门的主要领导,他不仅恪守职责做好广州市的民族团结进步工作,而且十分关心全国少数民族地区教育事业的发展。2000 年以来,王德坤先后14次带领广州市宗教界负责人,不辞劳苦,不畏艰辛,分赴广西百色、广东连南、吉林延边、新疆、云南迪庆等地区进行考察,开展扶贫助教活动。5年来发动广州市宗教界共捐出款项1192万元,用于帮助少数民族地区新建和改建中小学15所,资助贫困少数民族学生 700余人次,受到民族地区少数民族干部群众高度评价,被当地少数民族群众亲切称为“贴心人”、“亲兄弟”。
“When we engage in ethnic work, we must have feelings for ethnic minority people and ethnic minority areas.” This is what Wang Dekun often says. As the main leader of the ethnic and religious departments in Guangzhou, he not only abided by his duties and done a good job of national unity and progress in Guangzhou City, but also paid great attention to the development of education in ethnic minority areas throughout the country. Since 2000, Wang Dekun has led the religious circles in Guangzhou for 14 times and worked tirelessly and hard-fought to visit Guangxi Baise, Liannan of Guangdong, Yanbian of Jilin, Xinjiang and Yunnan Diqing for poverty alleviation and aid activities. Over the past five years, the religious circles in Guangzhou have donated a total of 11.92 million yuan to help 15 new and reconstructed primary and secondary schools in ethnic minority areas and to fund more than 700 poor ethnic minority students. They are highly praised by ethnic minority cadres and masses in ethnic minority areas, Ethnic minorities kindly called “caring people”, “brothers.”
