Aquaporins (AQPs) are a group of transporters involved in water permeability that exist in the membranes of animals, plants and microorganisms. They are involved in many physiological processes and maintain the body’s normal state. The first aquaporin AQP1 cDNA sequence was identified in 1991, it exists in a variety of tissues and cells, including the eye. Corneal endothelial cells were also found on AQP1 expression, with the AQP1 structure and function of the understanding of the gradual and deepen and found that the transmembrane water transport function and other possible functions of the corneal lesions clarified and the maintenance of corneal transparency is crucial
