Our previous study found that the regulatory peptides produced and secreted by the cardiovascular system are involved in the formation of exercise-induced cardiac hypertrophy. However, it remains unclear whether the neurotransmitters secreted by the cardiovascular system peptidergic nerve fibers are involved. In this study, radioimmunoassay was used to study the change of calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) in the myocardium of hypertrophic heart. The results showed that after 10 weeks of swimming, the heart rate increased by 35%, the myocardial CGRP content increased by 70% and the plasma CGRP content increased by 47%. This result suggests that CGRP, a cardiovascular neuromodulator, plays an important regulatory role in the development of exercise-induced cardiac hypertrophy. From the known mechanism of action of CGRP, it is concluded that CGRP may increase myocardial contractility and increase the activity of myosin α The increase in heavy chain has a positive meaning
