The research on art exhibition during the period of the Republic of China has become the hot and the focus of academia in recent years. Because of its research in modern Chinese history of art and the development of the history of art research has important and special significance. This paper reviews and summarizes the research status quo of the art exhibition so far in the Republic of China, which is intended to provide a reference for the continuous and in-depth study of this topic. Although we have repeatedly emphasized that the historic existence of art exhibitions held during the Republic of China is a unique and colorful phenomenon in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese art, it is regrettable that art historians are far from paying enough attention to it.
