A network of Chinese civilizations encompassing all the Chinese characters, all cultural relics, all historical sites and all the relics of civilization from the ancient times until 1911, and recorded on the Internet in a yearly record Edition, announced on June 22, 2005 in Beijing. At a press conference, Mr. Lu Jun, the initiator of the China Culture Research Association vividly called it the “China Barrel” project. “China Barrels” is the largest cultural project in history that takes full advantage of the unlimited space on the Internet and has strong links and search functions. Government, industry, academics and people are participating together and the whole society cooperates with each other. Its most notable feature is that every public in the world can readily affix its own historical facts to the Internet and can express its own opinions and research findings at any time and enjoy the splendid Chinese civilization at any time.
