A new British study found that not all saturated fatty acids increase the risk of diabetes. Some saturated fatty acids actually help prevent diabetes. Some saturated fatty acids in whole milk products such as milk, cheese and yogurt help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. The new study, which involved eight European countries, investigated the association of nine different saturated fatty acids with diabetes through a survey of 12,403 people with diabetes. The results showed that meat, fried foods, alcohol and carbohydrates increased the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Saturated fatty acids in dairy products help prevent type 2 diabetes.
