我局目前开动小口径钻机十五台，其中以金刚石钻进为主的十三台。勘探矿种有铜，钨、铅锌、锡等，由于钻孔深度为600至1000米，所以多数机台使用JU-1000型钻机，此外，还有我省自己研制的JYP-1000型小口径转盘钻机及XU-600-3型钻机。小口径钻进以56毫米为主，几乎全部采用双管钻进。多数选用人造孕镶金刚石钻头，少量使用天然孕镶或表镶钻头。一般情况下用清水乳化冲洗液钻进，见复杂地层后才换用低固相泥浆。
