比利时CMI防务公司研制XC-8型轻重量、模块化105毫米炮塔的主要目的是用于出口,为轻中型履带式底盘和轮式底盘提供强有力的火力。因此,瑞典研制的CV90装甲车在采用XC-8型105毫米炮塔之后,就变成了一款新型火力支援车。XC-8炮塔采用一门符合北约标准的低后坐105毫米火炮,可发射所有北约标准弹药,而且还可以发射CMI防务公司研制的“法拉里克”炮射反坦克导弹。XC-8炮塔可为105毫米火炮提供最大42°的仰角,使火炮具备良好的间瞄射击能力。火炮配有先进的火控系统和自动装填机,具有很高的命中精度和射速。
