1985年6月12日凌晨3点45分至4点20分,在湖北省秭归县长江西陵峡北岸新滩镇至广家崖的斜坡上突然发生整体滑动。滑坡南北长约1700米,东西平均宽约400米,面积约0.7平方公里。滑坡体平均厚度约45米,滑体总方量约8000万方。原斜坡脚上的新滩镇全部摧毁,有200万方土、石推入长江中,当时激起涌浪高达36米,掀起浪花达80多米,巨浪波及的范围较广,
At 3:45 a.m. to 4:20 a.m. on June 12, 1985, a sudden slide occurred on the slope of Xindatang to Guangjiaya on the north bank of the Xiling Gorge in the Yangtze River in Zigui County, Hubei Province.
