肖楼是一位长期工作在公路养护第一线的黑龙江养路工,他从养路工的岗位上脱颖而出有一个特殊的机缘。1998年,受总段党委委托,他带领由呼兰养路段的几名队员组成的公路养护队,参加了黑龙江省第三届公路沥青路面技术比赛,在竞赛的过程中,他不但丰富了自己的理论知识,而且积累了宝贵的实践经验。在这次的全省公路养护竞赛中他们获得了团体总分第二名,他本人在专业技术理论知识考核中名列第一名,不仅获得了价值10万元的解放牌汽车1辆,还为总段争得了荣誉。
