OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the relationship between the single nucleotide polymorphism of 17q24 rs1859962 and the susceptibility to prostate cancer. Methods: Pubmed, Embase, CNKI, VIP, CBM and Wanfang databases were searched to collect information on the susceptibility of rs1859962 to prostate cancer. Two researchers independently screened and extracted data, and used STREGA to evaluate the quality of the included articles. Meta-analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.3 and Stata 12.0. Results: Eight case-control studies (7,863 cases in the case group and 17,122 cases in the control group) were finally included. Meta-analysis suggested that rs1859962 was associated with prostate cancer susceptibility. Ethnic subgroup analyzes suggest that the rs1859962 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in European races, Asians, and American races. Conclusion: There is a correlation between 17q24 rs1859962 gene polymorphism and the incidence of prostate cancer. This conclusion needs to be further verified by higher quality studies in the future.
