蘇北農學院自從去年六月初旬奉命成立建校委員會,常即從事建築校舍。在十一月十七日開學時,完成的校舍僅夠容納大學部學生、專修科學生和中技校學生(現在尚有百分之五十的房屋未完成)。而工農速成中學新招來一年級一百多人,因開學較早,當時本院僅完成飯堂一幢計十六間,充臨時辦公之用。附近無可借用之民房,暫時宿在蘆葦棚中,上課也在棚中。建築時沒有抓緊重點爲工農速成中學學生搞好敎室宿舍等,而天時又連陰不晴影響工程進展。直至十一月三十日才叫工農速成中學學生于第二天搬進油漆正幹之宿舍內,那知這天夜裏寒流奔襲,大雪紛飛,學生先生床鋪也堆積了雪,弄得一夜未能入睡,第二天早上才搬進新屋(宿舍)裏來。暫借大學部飯廳、課堂上課,事先又沒有深入地動員大學部學生協助解決其困難,也就造成工農速成中學學生許多不方便。隨想這樣下去終不是辦法,當即商得蘇北房管委員會同意,借得
